Inside the Kamran Steel Manufacturing Process: From Scrap to Strength

FAQs About Steel Bar Supply in Pakistan – Answered by Kamran Steel

Buyers ask us the same steel bar FAQs every week, from home builders ordering their first few tons to contractors planning large projects. Below are clear answers to the most common questions about buying reinforcement bars (saria) in Pakistan.

What standards should steel bars meet?

Steel bars should meet a recognised standard, such as ASTM A615, or the Pakistan Standard for reinforcement bars. Some projects also specify BS 4449. Always follow the standard named in your drawings or contract. Read more in steel certifications explained.

Which grades and sizes does Kamran Steel supply?

We manufacture deformed bars in Grade 40, Grade 60 and Grade 75 to ASTM A615, in sizes from 10 mm to 36 mm, in standard 12-metre lengths. Custom lengths are available on request. See our products.

Which grade should I use?

Use the grade your structural engineer specifies. Most houses and multi-storey buildings in Pakistan use Grade 60. For the differences, read Grade 40 vs Grade 60 steel.

How can I check the quality of steel bars?

Check the manufacturer’s rolled-in marks, ask for the mill test certificate, and weigh a sample. The weight in kg per metre should be close to D² ÷ 162. For important work, send samples for lab testing. See how to test steel bar quality.

Are Kamran Steel bars suitable for earthquake zones?

Our Grade 60 deformed bars meet ASTM A615 requirements for strength and bending, and engineers in Pakistan commonly specify Grade 60 for earthquake-resistant design. However, safety in an earthquake depends on the whole design, so always follow a qualified engineer and the Building Code of Pakistan (Seismic Provisions).

What is the price of steel bars today?

Our current ex-factory price is Rs 275,000 per ton for Grade 40 and Rs 277,000 per ton for Grade 60, the same in every city, with transport extra. Prices change with the market, so check the latest steel rate.

Why do steel prices change so often?

Prices follow scrap and billet costs, the exchange rate, energy costs, taxes and demand. Read factors affecting steel prices in Pakistan.

How do I buy, and do you deliver?

You can buy directly from our sales office in Lahore or through our authorised dealers. We quote the steel price and the transport cost to your site separately, and we can deliver in stages. See where to buy steel bars in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

How much steel does a house need?

It depends on the design, but you can get a good estimate from our guide on how much steel a 5, 7 or 10 marla house needs, or from the steel rate calculator.

How should I store steel bars on site?

Keep them off the ground, covered and sorted by size, and use them in the order they arrive. Read how to store steel bars on a construction site.
